Véronique Doucet lives in Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec. She is currently pursuing her studies in the 2nd cycle microprogram in contemporary artistic practices at UQAT. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Major in plastic arts, Minor in arts and sciences at the University of Montreal). She became known thanks to the Aldermac plantation minière project, initiator of a great environmental victory that led to the restoration of an abandoned mining site. Her works and performances have been shown in exhibition centers, artist-run centers and contemporary art fairs across Canada, the United States and France. She is also co-founder of Groupe Écocitoyen (GECO), an environmental group focused on citizen action! In 2012, she trained as a yoga teacher and began teaching visual arts at Cégep de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue. In 2015, she won the CALQ prize as Creator of the Year. She has received several research and creation grants since 2004, including one for the installation Plafond de verre which will open her retrospective Femme au front at the Rouyn-Noranda Art Museum in the fall of 2023. She also participated in CALQ juries, regional and provincial component. In 2023, she is a finalist for the CALQ artist of the year award. S
